GAP of 42 & TUNNEL ++ postponed, dates TBD ++
PLAY - a series of guest performances
Season: 28. – 31. January 2021
Our series of guest performances PLAY with two short pieces in one evening - very different, but equally charming. Each piece has a duration of approximately 30 minutes. This combination gives a nice impression of the variety of contemporary circus.
GAP of 42 by Chris & Iris
With humour and emotion, Chris and Iris show how they approach their difference in size, creating images and situations that relate to other areas of life and broader relationships. GAP of 42 unites extraordinary acrobatics with situational comedy. Philosophical questions are raised, bizarre images and absurd moments are created. Acrobatics with precision and lightness - impressive, touching, and profound.
"Seldom has one seen a dance or artistic couple that presents the great themes of being so subtly, so poetically" (Bernd Guido Weber - " Schwäbische").
TUNNEL by Maleta company + Hippana Theatre
Two jugglers fantasize about social advancement in order to experience a moment of shared greatness. In the process, they encounter a disenchanted world and raise their utopian demand of a society filled with poetry. On their common path, they must face the challenge of revealing personal ideals, fears and idiosyncrasies to their counterparts. TUNNEL addresses both rivalry and sworn friendship, the desirefor advancement and the fear of falling. In collaboration with Cie Maleta, Hippana Theatre presents a juggling show about the genius of the impossible and the belief in fantasy.

About the companies
Chris & Iris
Christopher Schlunk and Iris Pelz have worked as a hand-on-hand duo ever since they studied at the Academy for Circus and Performance Art together. They have toured the world with renowned contemporary circus companies for many years, including Cirque Éloize from Canada and the Swedish Cirkus Cirkör - with whom they performed UNDERART at the Chamäleon in 2016.
They also regularly perform in variety and dinner shows, such as Palazzo (Germany) and La Soirée (Australia). In 2019 they celebrated a premiere with Common Ground, a collective of six artists which they co-founded. Their innovative microphone performance, which is entirely without music, has received numerous awards, including the silver medal at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris.
They themselves directed their first duo piece. GAP of 42 treats their difference in size with a lot of subtle humour and depth. One of the duo's outstanding qualities is their precision and ease in performing very demanding acrobatics, as well as their personable and authentic manner on stage.
