In an empty dressing room two, men play with movement, an analogue radio and tiny shorts.
That’s all the two performers need for their wonderfully bizarre, energetic physical narrative situated somewhere between acrobatics and dance, wrestling and slapstick. Un Poyo Rojo has been celebrated by audiences and critics worldwide for ten years and is now presented in Berlin for the first time.
Set in a testosterone loaded dressing room, the athletic bodies of Luciano Rosso and Alfonso Barón move fluently through various forms of moving art. The two performers present stereotypical macho behaviour with a wink, alternating between competition and camaraderie that is repeatedly broken by homoerotic moments. The protagonists are able to cleverly deconstruct common ideas of masculinity. Un Poyo Rojo is a masterful tour-de-force of acrobatics, dance, humour and sexuality – an invitation to laugh at ourselves and to accept ourselves as we are.
