Chamäleon offers two residencies per year to enable an open exchange of ideas and to promote artistic innovation through work in a protected space. Contemporary circus artists have the opportunity to work with us on a project or idea within a jointly conceived residency period.

The artists research and work mainly independently in our rehearsal space, but have organized access to our production structure. The residency also includes the artistic exploration of the content with us as well as production support in the areas of technical assistance, project management, marketing and PR. Depending on the work status and technical dimension of the project, there may be the possibility of a one-time public performance and high-quality video recording on our stage.

Details of the rehearsal cellar:

  • Size approx. 6 x 9m
  • Rigging bar with hanging point (height approx. 4,30m)
  • 1 floor point
  • Basic sound equipment
  • Provision of further technical equipment and technical support upon agreement and availability.

Our share of the residencies is provided free of charge. However, we cannot offer an additional production budget or residency stipend for the artists.

We see each residency as a passion project that we will support with all our energy and expertise. In return, we ask the companies and individual artists to refer to our logo and our support on future designs and texts that accompany the finished piece.

The residencies are awarded twice a year and selected by the Artistic Director and the production team. Applications may be submitted at any time with a deadline of October 15 (project start date April 15) and April 15 (project start date of October 15).

Applications must include the following information:

  • artistic resume of all participants including a detailed project description (video presentation or text document)
  • goal of the artistic project
  • technical details and requirements including team size
  • desired level of support from the Chamäleon team
  • first production planning = desired project time frames

Next starting date for applications 01.09.21
Deadline 15.10.21
Start of Project 15.04.22

We will review all applications received within the timeframes specified above and get back to you with our feedback.
