Accessibility Statement
§ 1 Scope
This statement applies to the website of the Chamäleon Theatre Berlin (chamaeleonberlin.com), including the digital services accessible via the website.
§ 2 Legal Basis
As a service provider in electronic commerce, the Chamäleon Theatre Berlin is obliged to ensure that its digital offerings are accessible. This obligation arises in particular from the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG) in conjunction with the Ordinance on the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSGV).
The technical reference standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Conformity Level AA, which meet the legal requirements for perceivability, operability, understandability and robustness.
§ 3 Status of Accessibility
The Chamäleon Theatre Berlin website is currently partially accessible. The issues listed below are currently known and will be rectified step by step as soon as possible:
- Alt text for images: A number of subpages lack descriptive alternative text for images, meaning that screen readers, for example, cannot read out the image descriptions.
- PDFs: In accordance with Section 1(4)(2) of the BFSG, there is no obligation to ensure accessibility for PDF documents published on this website prior to 28 June 2025. For documents published after this cut-off date, the accessibility requirements have not yet been met in all cases.
- Language accessibility: Content in plain language is not currently available on this website.
- Lists, ARIA attributes and hierarchies: In some cases, lists are not correctly semantically marked up, meaning that screen readers cannot reliably determine which bullet points belong to which content. Furthermore, some ARIA attributes are set incorrectly or incompletely, which may lead to incorrect or contradictory output from assistive technologies. In some places, the heading hierarchy is not used in the correct order, which makes structural navigation via screen readers more difficult.
- Link labels: Some links do not have a meaningful name – for example, links that are represented solely by an icon, without any accompanying text or alternative text.
- Seat booking: In the interactive seat booking section, alternative text is missing for graphical elements; furthermore, full usability without a mouse or touchscreen is not currently guaranteed for all functions.
§ 4 Information on the provision of the service
Chamäleon Theater Berlin provides visitors with information on its website regarding its programme, artists and events, as well as access to online ticket sales. The technical accessibility of the website is being continuously improved by our development agency and will be audited again once the current measures have been completed.

This statement was drawn up in July 2026. It is based on a technical audit carried out by a separately commissioned development agency, as well as on an internal review conducted by the communications team at the Chamäleon Theatre Berlin.
