Circus is an incredibly broad field with many styles, aesthetics, and influences. But one element that one encounters again and again – and which for many spectators is part of the special appeal of a circus performance – is the thrill, the element of risk.
Testing one’s own limits is an inseparable part of circus. For acrobats like Sini Saari, an artist in our show in_between, this means constant confrontation with danger and the fear of failure – but also constant reassurance of one’s own abilities and confidence in oneself. It’s a long road before a trick is actually performed on stage. We asked Sini what that journey feels like.
