a body and other objects

a body and other objects is an entrancing exploration of the spectrum between gravity and weightlessness, corporeality and objecthood, reality and illusion. Constantly challenging our perceptions, the work invites us to marvel at the boundless possibilities that emerge when we set aside preconceived notions of what a body is capable of.

Through deep trust and intricate collaboration, Ana and Vincent create an intimate and tender space where the mechanics of connection are laid bare – sometimes through touch, sometimes through the use of strings, bodies and objects are eternally connected and intertwined. Ropes, carabiners, and splicing needles take center stage as Ana and Vincent reveal the artistry and performative nature of rigging. The work constantly shifts between illusion and revelation, urging us to suspend disbelief before exposing the underlying reality.

Accompanied by Fabian Laute’s rich musical composition, the work invites us to rediscover the magic of the everyday, celebrating the beauty of radical care and the interconnectedness of all things, animate and inanimate alike.

About the Artists

Ana Jordão is a Berlin-based circus author and performer, rooted in the junction of circus and dance. Her works feature an innovative methodology and style, using circus languages in unique and distinctive ways. Her collaborations span into site-specific work, performance lectures and published articles. In her latest work a body and other objects, Ana explores the interplay between hair-hanging and disciplines such as partnering, martial arts and new magic. The project was one of just three chosen to be developed through the Chamäleon’s Theaterpreis des Bundes Residency Program. Ana is co-founder of Collective 0/1, and actively engages with BUZZ, Zirkus ON, and KulturRäume, advocating for the needs of local independent contemporary circus makers.

Vincent Kollar initiated his circus education at Die Etage (Berlin) and holds a Bachelor’s in Circus Arts from CODARTS. Excelling in Meteor manipulation, he is a pioneer of the traditional Chinese circus art and is arguably the leading contemporary practitioner of the Meteor in Europe. His solo performances ponder on themes such as risk and sustainability, featuring in-depth explorations of elements like fire, powder, water and other liquids. Vincent toured for several years as part of the cast of The Great Bean by Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and he currently collaborates with Cie Marta & Kim (NL) in FASE, and with Ana Jordão in A Body and Other Objects. As a certified rigger he is fascinated by the creative aspects of rigging for circus creation and is currently touring as a rigger with Diana Salles and her award winning production DELUSIONAL – i killed a man.
